What is possible with community organising?
For too long politics has been something that doesn’t involved ordinary people in their own spaces. The idea has become that we choose who will control levers of power from which we’re far removed. Is it any wonder that people don’t engage with politics?
Community organising is about working with local people on the issues that matter to them, even if it means taking on the establishment. By building confidence and taking on causes that make a difference, right here, right now, people become part of the broader, long term struggles to transform the power relationships in society.
